Valuable
Feedback
Hello,
A little feedback from a music fan.
The first issue was good. The only other music magazine on the
Web (that I know of) covering this wide a spectrum of music...in
a professional manner.... is www.themusicmagazine.com. (Please
note the emphasis on "professional", I hate mindless
reviews by people who are more interested in seeing their by-line
in a swanky review column and sucking up to music-directors, rather
than reviewing.) But that site seems to have gone on a permanent
hiatus now.
Swapnil's review dripped "reverence" in every line.
A little gushy. Maybe that isn't too bad, considering the fact
that even I feel every ARR album is a gem in itself, but I think
a review should be a little more judgemental. Maybe I am contradicting
myself. That's ok.
Shyam's article on Remember Shakti was good, really! Even I caught
the concert in Pune and I went through the same tumultuous experience,
great to see somebody actually captured the moment in words. Will
be waiting to see your views on the ARR concert, Shyam. Just a
note, the name of the piece is not "Luecy", it's "Luki".
And the Thyagaraja piece was "Giriraj Sudha", not "Giri
Raag Sudha"...Editorial team, please take note.
Vij's article was a little abrupt. Could have been longer, I guess.
The rest of the articles and features I just skimmed through,
everything seems fine, the pages download pretty fast, so no issues
about that.
The Trivia section raised some interesting questions. A serious
music magazine (Its me who's slotting you that way) need
not actually go for mindless Q&A session kind of a thing....
wouldnt the space be better devoted to some serious trivia
about music? Fundae anyone?
Thanks,
Satyajit
Please
keep away from the trivial
I
just skimmed through the magazine .I should say it is excellent,
very healthy. I have just few points to make.
Most
of such sites start on a healthy note, but later become a Junk
of articles, mainly featuring articles on Illayaraaja and A.R.
Rahman music and determining who is better and kind of stuff...
Interviews
of good musicians can feature in that magazine...
Every
issue can feature some 3-4 compositions of amateurs, which will
encourage them.
With
regards

More
Memories please
Dear
Dhwanii,
Congratulations for getting the dream moving! I like the opening
featured article. Look forward to the continuation. My suggestion
is, please try to bring memories of all composers of South India,
who gave such memorable and melodious songs that are going to
be lost treasures unless people like you archive the memories.
Best Wishes,
Nithin
